What do house cleaners do on a regular visit?
Before you book anyone, it helps to know exactly what is included, what costs extra and what is never part of the visit. Here is how it works at Good Coast Cleaning, task by task.
The short answer
What do house cleaners do? On a regular visit, the work is the routine cleaning that keeps a lived-in home in order: kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, dusting, floors and made beds. Detail work, such as baseboards and light fixtures, belongs to a deep clean. Anything inside cabinets and drawers is only done when the home is empty. Extras are agreed with you before the visit and never added on the day without asking.

What a regular visit covers
In the kitchen, the cleaners wipe the counters, clean the sink and the stove top, and wipe the outside of the fridge and microwave. Cabinet fronts get a spot clean where fingerprints and splashes collect, and visible trash is emptied.
In the bathrooms, the toilet, shower or tub, sink, mirror and floor are cleaned. Targeted high-heat steam on sinks, showers, tubs and toilets is part of every visit. The steam treatment uses only water and heat, and wide-plank wood and high-gloss lacquer are never steamed.
In living areas and bedrooms, reachable surfaces are dusted, floors are vacuumed and mopped, trash is emptied and beds are made with the linens you provide. The full list is on the recurring house cleaning page.
Do the cleaners bring their own supplies?
Yes. The cleaners bring the supplies and equipment for the visit, so there is nothing to buy or set out. The one thing you provide is the linens if you want beds made.
Do house cleaners do laundry?
Not as part of a regular visit. A single load of laundry is an add-on: you ask for it, it is agreed before the visit, and it is only done when agreed. If laundry matters to you, mention it in the notes when you send a request.
What counts as an add-on
Some jobs take longer and are not needed every time, so they are offered as add-ons rather than folded into every visit. On a regular visit, the add-ons are the inside of the fridge or oven, blinds, inside windows, a garage sweep and a single load of laundry.
Every add-on is agreed with you before the visit. The cleaners never add one on the day without asking, and nothing extra appears on a visit you did not agree to.
What a regular visit leaves out
A regular visit maintains a home that is already in reasonable shape, so detail work is left for a different visit. Baseboards, light switches and fixtures, ceiling fans, window sills and tracks, closets and the inside of the microwave are not part of a regular visit.
The inside of cabinets and drawers is never cleaned while your belongings are in them. That work belongs to a move-out clean, once the home is empty. The cleaners may also decline a task they cannot do safely, so please mention anything in the home that could affect safety.
When a deep clean or move-out clean fits better
If the detail work is what you want, a deep clean adds baseboards, full detail on cabinet fronts, light switches and fixtures, reachable ceiling fans, window sills, door frames and the grout beside bathroom fixtures. If a home has not had a professional clean in the last 30 days, the first visit is normally planned that way.

How the scope is settled before a visit
Nothing is booked when you send a request. We read it, then confirm the scope, the size of the home, the date and time and how the cleaners will get in. The price is confirmed with you in writing before anyone arrives. If you are not sure which visit fits, choose not sure on the form and we will explain the options for your home. Do house cleaners make beds?
Yes, on a regular visit beds are made with the linens you provide.
Do house cleaners clean inside the fridge?
Not on a regular or deep clean unless it is agreed as an add-on. It is included on a move-out clean in an empty home.
Do house cleaners clean inside cabinets?
Only in an empty home, as part of a move-out clean. Cabinets and drawers are never cleaned inside while belongings are in them.
Do I need to tidy up before the cleaners arrive?
You do not need to clean. Picking up clutter such as clothing, dishes, toys and papers lets the time go to cleaning rather than tidying.
